Roxanne (Roxi) Morkved Hall

Roxanne (Roxi) Morkved Hall of Covington, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at the age of 61. Roxi was the founder of the Ride for Roxy Foundation. She enjoyed camping, crocheting, riding motorcycles and was a part of a dart league. Always the life of the party, she will be missed by all who knew her and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. Roxi was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Morkved; sister, Sonja Issacson.

 

Survivors include her husband, Billy Hall; daughters, Crystal Little and husband, Jason, Sabrina Patrick and wife, Sam; sons, Chris "Bubba" Miller, Nicholus Hall and wife, Ann; grandchildren, Libby Mervin, Luke Mervin; mother and step-father, Lucy and Cary Mickelson;  sister, Val Merriner; brothers, Randy Morkved, Andrew Morkved, Matthew Morkved, Jonathan Morkved; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and large group of amazing friends.

 

A Celebration of Life for Roxi will be held Saturday, November 2, 2019, 3:00 P.M., at Central Church, 11157 City Pond Road, in Covington, with Pastor Phil Payton officiating. Friends may visit with the family at the church, three hours prior to her service, from 12 Noon – 3:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ride for Roxy Foundation on Facebook. In addition, another Celebration of Life for Roxi will be held in Wisconsin at a later date.

obit for Mary Jacqueline "Jackie" Bowden

Mary Jacqueline "Jackie" Bowden, of Social Circle, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2019, at 83 years of age. She was a member of Sewell United Methodist Church, in Mansfield, and was retired from Georgia Central Bank, where she was a dedicated employee for 37 years. Mrs. Bowden's life centered around her love of family, which for her, included fellow church members. Much of her free time was spent fostering and nurturing bonds with not only her loved ones, but her church family as well. Mrs. Bowden will be remembered most for her role as a caring and attentive wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Maggie (Bruce) Thomas.

 

Left to lovingly remember Mrs. Bowden is her husband of 64 years, Jerry F. Bowden; daughter and son-in-law, Robbin and Brandon Hill; sons and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Carol Bowden, Russell Bowden; grandchildren, Rhi Cottrell, Keely Bowen, Nan Bowden, Katie Broach; great-grandchildren, Trip, Peyton, Bo, Annalei; as well as several nieces and nephews.

 

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Bowden will be held Wednesday, October 30, 2019, 11:00 A.M., at Sewell United Methodist Church, 1660 Sewell Church Road, in Mansfield, with Pastor Danny Standard and Pastor Larry Clayton officiating. Interment will be held in the church cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, Tuesday, October 29, from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sewell United Methodist Church, 1800 Lynch Road, Social Circle, GA 30025

obit for Kathy Christian

 

Kathy Christian, of Covington, passed away Friday, October 25, 2019, at 63 years of age. A vital member of her community, Kathy worked for the Newton County Recreation Department and attended Gospel Mission Church in Covington. Her smile brightened any room, and she was quick to offer a kind word and support to anyone who needed it. Kathy was a gentle and caring soul whose willingness to help others knew no limits. She was a loyal friend and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Worley Fleeman; and brother, Danny Fleeman.

 

Those who will always hold her memory close are her husband, Les Christian; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Tiffany Christian; grandson, Wesley Christian; sisters and brothers-in-law, Wanda and Rick Carver, Vickie and Tony Shannon, Tammy and Johnny Adams; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Judy Fleeman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

A Funeral Service for Kathy will be held Tuesday, October 29, 2019, 2:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Wayne Whitley officiating.

Interment will follow in Lawnwood Memorial Park in Covington. Friends may visit with the family Monday, October 28, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.

EDITED obit for Billy H. McCullough / Service time changed to 11:00 A.M.

Billy H. McCullough, of Macon, GA, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2019, at 78 years of age. Mr. McCullough attended Georgia School for the Deaf, in Cave Spring, Georgia. Naturally athletic, he excelled in sports both as a student and in his adult life. As a member of the Tigers basketball team, Mr. McCullough was inducted into the Georgia School for the Deaf Basketball Hall of Fame. In 1994, he earned a place in the Far West Athletic Association for the Deaf Softball Hall of Fame. Mr. McCullough applied the same dedication and drive to his work life. He was employed with the Newton/Rockdale Citizen, in Conyers, before moving to California and working with the L.A. Times. In 2007, Mr. McCullough brought his remarkable career to a close when he retired from the United States Post Office in California. A sports fan through and through, he was a passionate follower of Georgia Tech football, the Atlanta Braves, and Atlanta Falcons. Mr. McCullough also liked being in nature and camping, as well as traveling to places old and new. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam Houston and Helen Margaret McCullough; and brothers, Paul McCullough, Larry McCullough.

 

Mr. McCullough will be lovingly remembered by his significant other, Janice Dominy; daughter and son-in-law, Caroline and Len Bonalsky of Madison, CT; son and daughter-in-law, Lydell and Monica McCullough of Fontana, CA; grandchildren, Ava Bonalsky, Maksym Bonalsky, Emma McCullough, Noah McCullough; sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Terry Robinson of Lilburn, GA; as well as several nieces and nephews.

 

A Funeral Service for Mr. McCullough will be held Wednesday, October 30, 2019, 11:00 A.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington. Interment will be held in Eastview Cemetery, 1138 Woodland Road NE, Conyers. Friends are invited to visit with the family Tuesday, October 29, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.
