Joel Clinton Bowen, 79, of Ruther Glen, Virginia died Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Cardinal Village. Born in Porterdale, Georgia, he was retired from the U. S. Army and was the widower of Rebecca Womack Bowen and was preceded in death by his daughter, Joanne Bowen McClain.
Survivors include his daughter, Kathy Heidenescher and her husband, Jack; three grandchildren, Chad Cooke, Jamie Cooke and Toby Heidenscher; three great grandchildren, Rebecca Grace Cooke, Cayden Heidenescher and Alaric Heidenscher.
Mr. Bowen's funeral service will be conducted at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home in Covington, Georgia Saturday, November 18, 2017. The family will receive friends from 1-3 pm with the funeral following at 3 pm in the Chapel. Mr. Bowen will be laid to rest next to his wife in Lawnwood Memorial Park.
