Bobby Ray Coggins of Covington, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2020, at the age of 91. He was an avid outdoorsman loving to fish, hunt and sit out and look at his beloved Lake Jackson. He was known for having a huge heart and was always helpful to all of his neighbors in his lakeside community. He was a proud veteran serving in not one, but two branches of the military where he fought in the Korean War and was awarded a medal. He had a strong faith in the Lord and often spoke about growing up in the church and knowing that he was bound for heaven. He was loved by the family he leaves behind who will miss all of his stories (that he told repeatedly) that made everyone laugh. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother and father, Ollie and Murrow Coggins, his brothers, Floyd and Roy and sister, Ruby Gordon.
He is survived by his daughters, Linda (Richard) Compton of Newnan, Sharon (Bill) Gibson of Sharpsburg; Grandchildren, Ginger (Jamie) Blair, Brian (Amanda) Messer, Justin (Thayna) Messer and Ashley Gibson; and great-grandchildren Jacob Blair, Lani Messer, Sawyer Blair, Jordan Messer, Amelia Messer, and Madianna Messer.
A Graveside Service for Mr. Coggins will be held Tuesday, June 2, 2020, 4:00 P.M., at Lawnwood Memorial Park, 1111 Access Road, in Covington.
