Perry William Winnig Obituary

Perry, only 58 years old, was a wonderful loving husband and father. He and his wife, Barbara, were together 31 wonderful years and are so proud of the gift they were given. Their twins, Justin and Jantzen, and also quite a few others Pops liked to call his step kids. Anyone that knew Perry also knew that he had a big heart full of love for anyone in his path. He was a hard worker of several trades over the years. He had the love for mechanics from an early age, which led him to Auto Mechanics, then later to settle in for the long haul as Maintenance Mechanic with Dart Container in Conyers, GA, where he worked for 17 years until October 2021, when his health troubles became too much to bare. It wasn't until recently he found that he had 3 incurable diseases (gastroparesis, liver cancer and emphysema). That was going to be life changing, but even with all that, he still had the desire to continue his journey here on earth. He put up a good fight for months, but our Father God had bigger plans for him and took him home on Tuesday, March 29th. Perry loved boating, being on the lake, and camping. He wanted to retire and travel with his camper to show his wife the beauty of the earth he had once seen, but being the good man that Perry was, God didn't want him to suffer anymore and called him home.

He will be remembered dearly by his wife, Barbara Mock Winnig; twin sons, Justin Perry Winnig and Jantzen William Winnig, all of Oxford, GA; mother and stepfather, Patricia and Dave Buckner, of Ravenel, SC; sister, Debbie Ramsey (Doug), of Johns Island, SC; brother, Bobby Winnig, of Ravenel, SC; stepsister, Davita Ivey (Tony), of Charleston, SC; stepsister, Lisa Sterling (Dan), of Dyer, Tennessee; brother-in-law, Tim Mock (Bobby), of Oxford, GA; brother-in-law, Ricky Mock (Nancy), of Social Circle, GA; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Emil William Winnig, III.

A Memorial Service for Perry will be held Sunday, April 3, 2022, 3:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home three hours prior to his service from 12:00 Noon - 3:00 P.M.

This obituary was crafted with love and affection by Perry's family.
