J.R. Troutman

Rev. Jordan Reid Troutman, Jr. of Stockbridge, Georgia.

At the age of 88 years old, Jay took his last breath as he entered the presence of the Lord and other loved ones that preceded him on Wednesday, August 5th, 2020, at 6:55 pm as he heard the last few words to the song "Oh How I Love Jesus".

Jay was preceded in death by his parents Jordan Reid Troutman Sr. & Bertha Barnhill Troutman-Hicks, and two sisters Ann Troutman-O'Neil, and Mary Troutman.

Born on May 11th, 1932 in Paducah, Kentucky to parents Jordan (Jay) Reid Troutman, Sr. & Bertha Barnhill Troutman. Jay & Yvonne Semrau were married in September 1951, in Belleville, Michigan, and were happily married for 58 years until her death on June 13, 2009. In December of 2010, Jay married Janet Turpin in Jonesboro, Georgia in which he was also happily married until his passing.

For several years, Jay worked for Ford Motor Company before entering the ministry in 1962, when he was ordained as a minister by Hiawatha Missions and became a church planter in Waupan, Wisconsin. He continued church planting for the next 20+ years also pastoring churches in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Georgia. After retiring from the ministry, Jay continued to minister as a guest speaker and taught Bible classes along the way.

Ministry was his life and passion as he and Yvonne taught the Word of God in church and at home to their six children. Music was also an important factor in their spiritual walk, both in musical instruments and songs. As a family, they loved to gather around as Mom usually played the piano, and the family sang in harmony praises to the precious Lord that we all serve. The beautiful melodies from these talented and gifted parents to the siblings and forwarded into the lives of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren will forever leave many cherished memories. To this day, the music and songs are shared in the family's churches as they use their Godly gifts and talents for the Lord as they serve HIM.

Family was always important to Jay and teaching the kids its value is represented in each of them today. Jay was a great dad who loved spending time with his kids while fishing, golfing, swimming, sight-seeing, watching football games and golf on TV, but could never pass up on the bargains at the weekend garage sales. There was never a dull moment when it came to family gatherings. You never heard such laughter, jokes (of course, they were clean), the storytelling of the Great Fish Tails, but also the huge spreads of foods and desserts (not a bad cook in the bunch) that filled the tables as the mass of arms reaching to load their plates. It is all about "love" that makes the Troutman family so special. This love is a result that has been expressed that has been passed down from Jay & Yvonne, but also the love from Janet into this families.

Jay is survived by his spouse of 10 years, Janet Turpin Troutman of Stockbridge, GA; son, Jay (Becky) Troutman of Franklin, NC; son, Jim (Bessie) Troutman of Greenback, TN; daughter, Laura (Jerry) Coleman of Baxley, GA; daughter, Lisa (David) Parker of Easley, SC; son, Matthew (Lanette) Troutman of Covington, GA; and son, Jonathan (Angi) Troutman of Mansfield, GA; along with a total of 22 grandchildren and their spouses; and 48 great-grandchildren with more on the way; brother, Thomas Troutman of Katy, TX; brother, Jim Troutman of W. Olive, MI; brother, Charles "Sully" Sullivan of Boiling Brook, IL; brother, Michael Sullivan of Clearwater, FL; sister, Nancy Hughes of Plano, TX; and also survived by Janet's son, Mark (Donna) Sanford, 4 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

As many of you know, Rev. (Jay) Jordan R. Troutman, II was missions and spreading the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Seeing souls won for the Lord gave him great joy as he gave God all the glory for putting people in his path for the opportunity to share the Gospel. Jay wrote a biblical track which he handed out freely to individuals (many of them strangers), giving them a step-by-step walk- through the plan of salvation. Jay ordered all these tracks and Bibles through Grace Printing to be sent to the mission fields of Chile, Honduras, Nicaragua, and other locations with a great need for the God's Word. This company also prints Bibles in various languages to be disbursed in countries that desperately need God's Word. Jay lived and believed strongly in the scriptures that Jesus spoke found in Matthew 28: 19-20 (KJV):

19) "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost;                                                         20) Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world." AMEN

To help continue Jay's ministry legacy and global outreach, Jay personally requested donations be made to the following in lieu of flowers:
