obit for Glenda Capes Kitchens

Glenda Capes Kitchens, of Covington, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2020, at the age of 73. Mrs. Kitchens, a 1965 graduate of Newton County High School, spent her days growing up in the close-knit community of Almon. She was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church and her Christ-like love - forgiving and unconditional - was shown to all who crossed her path. Mrs. Kitchens reserved a special place in her heart for her family and cared for them thoughtfully and with great intent. She was eager to travel and see places both unknown and familiar, loved watching movies and enjoyed the chance to immerse herself in a good book. Her friends and family praised her talents in the kitchen ("best cook ever!"), and her version of dressing was simply amazing. Mrs. Kitchens was preceded in death by her parents, J.C. and Nannie Mae (Dobbs) Capes; and brother, Larry N. Capes.

The beautiful life Mrs. Kitchens created will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 52 years, Richard Kitchens; daughter and son-in-law, Laura Goddard and Pastor Nelson Goddard; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Dana Kitchens; grandchildren and their spouses, Kristin and Joey Joslin, Amanda and Mark Woods, Cassidy and Patrick McGuinty, Hailey Kitchens, Jaden Kitchens; eight great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Clara Sue and Bobby Cagle; brother and sister-in-law, Rev. Ron Capes and Ann Capes; sister-in-law, Adrian Capes; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
