Marguerite Threadgill Allgood of Oxford, passed away November 17, 2012, at the age of 91. Marguerite was born August 20, 1921, to Andrew Glen Threadgill and Imogene Dean Threadgill, in Macon, Georgia. She grew up in West End Atlanta, and attended Girls High School; and she later graduated from Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville. Mrs. Allgood taught elementary school at E.L. Ficquett, in Covington, and was a member and past president of ADK teacher's sorority, and a member of the Newton County Retired Teachers Association. Marguerite and her husband, Bill, continued this commitment to education through their donations to Oxford College of Emory University. She belonged to Calvary United Methodist Church, in Atlanta, and Allen Memorial United Methodist Church, in Oxford. At the time of her death, she lived in Athens, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Isaac Allgood.
Survivors include her son, Bill, his wife, Pat, and their sons, William and Eric; her daughter, Diane Kirby and Diane's daughter, Bridget, and son, Will, his wife, Kristi and their sons, Isaac, Liam, and Turner; and her daughter, Marguerite Wall. She had a beloved extended family and many dear friends throughout her life and from around the world.
A Celebration of her life will be held Sunday, November 25, 2012, 2:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Max Vincent officiating. The family will receive friends, at the funeral home, following her service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you please surprise someone with a bouquet.
