Bibb Blease Henderson
1927—2015
Born January 7, 1927 in Covington County, Alabama to William Washington and Daisy Bell Henderson. He was the seventh of eight children. He was born into a family unique in its love for each other. Survival on a forty acre farm, for a family of ten, during the depths of the depression, forged bonds between siblings that were unique and everlasting. "Family" always meant Brothers and Sisters. Children, grandchildren, nephews and nieces were all born into a loving and nurturing environment but were not "Family".
"Uncle" Bibb was a mentor to his children and many of his nephews who worked for him in the construction business. He had a love for building things and founded his own very successful construction company "Henderson Construction". His Christian faith guided him in his dealings with customers, contractors and competitors. He was respected amongst his peers.
After selling his business and retiring, he devoted his life to helping others and hunting. He loved his God and actively and generously supported his church. As with everything he did, he went at it with a goal and purpose. He had a desire to be the best at whatever he did.
He enjoyed immensely his relationship with the Covington Firemen, where each Sunday for many years he would teach "Sunday School" before attending his own church. His stories of growing up on a farm in South Alabama will be long remembered.
The children of his church remember that he always seemed to have a pocket full of coins to share with them each Sunday, along with a testimony of his Christian love.
His knowledge of growing up on a farm served him and the community well after his retirement. For many years he grew a large garden for the sole purpose of giving its produce to others. He was a fixture in the parking lots of Covington where he came in his truck to simply "give away" harvested corn and vegetables to anyone who would accept it. This years' harvest was just completed and his work is done. The world is a better place for his having been here.
He is survived by sisters Tessie Lewis and Elizabeth Bass; children Permelia, Daniel and Phillip Henderson; six grandchildren Nicole Henderson, Dana Henderson, Wesley Henderson, Lauren Henderson, Dawn Henderson, Cash Henderson. Two great grandchildren Jacob and Aubrie Ivey, many nephews and nieces and dear special friend Mrs. Lou Holley.
He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret; parents Will and Daisy; brothers Archie, and Harrold; sisters, Willie May, Ethyl and Bertha.

Steve Dudley officiating and interment following in Covington City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, August 14, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM.
