Obit - Dorothy Corinne (Gaudreau) Sparkman

Mrs. Dorothy Corinne (Gaudreau) Sparkman, 92, of Conyers, passed away June 26, 2016. Mrs. Sparkman was born in Miami, Florida, to the late Louis and Virginia (Roberts) Gaudreau. She married her beloved husband, John, in 1941. Mrs. Sparkman was a faithful, active member of Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church for 24 years. Additionally, she was a member of the Presbyterian Women's group and taught Sunday School when she was younger. Mrs. Sparkman was a loving and dedicated mother who devoted her life to raising her family at home. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, cross stitching and working with ceramics. Preceding her in death were her husband of 53 years, John Elwood Sparkman; sons, John and Russell Sparkman; parents; sisters, Rose Lassiter, Shirley Capes, Gloria Davis; and her brothers, Louis, Joseph and Ernest Gaudreau.

 

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Lorraine and Calvin Varnes; grandchildren, Michael and Angela Varnes, Johnny and Gail Varnes, Lori Ann and Ward Dameron, Russell Sparkman, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Christian, Neely, Noah, Eli, Riley, Colin; great-great-grandchildren, Preston and Raylan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Services for Mrs. Sparkman will be held Tuesday, June 28, 2016, 3:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Elizabeth Young and Rev. Ron Hieber officiating. Friends may visit with her family Tuesday, one hour prior to the service, from 2:00 – 3:00 PM. A private graveside service will be held at Lawnwood Memorial Park in Covington. Flowers are accepted, or donations may be made, in Mrs. Sparkman's memory, to Gum Creek Presbyterian Church, 2700 Gum Creek Road, Oxford, GA 30054.
