Bennie Roy Goldman of Covington passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017, at the age of 82. Mr. Goldman enlisted in the Army at an early age and served in Korea during his tour of duty. Over the course of 25 years as a truck driver, he worked for many different trucking companies before retiring from McLean Trucking Company. Mr. Goldman went on to become co-owner of Goldman & Goldman Security Company, providing security for many local businesses. Equipped with an extensive security background, he then served as police chief and investigator for the City of Porterdale. Mr. Goldman was preceded in death by his first wife of 53 years, Betty Sonnier Goldman; parents, Roy and Ruth (McMannus) Goldman; son-in-law, Jimmy Crowe; grandson, Jimmy Crowe, Jr.
Survivors include his loving wife, Bertha Goldman; daughters, Debra Brown and husband, Paul, Jana Crowe and Bill Nash, all of Covington; grandchildren, Betty Jo Campbell, Angela Lynn Quillen, Joy Crowe Burke; great-grandchildren, Gemma Campbell, Sara Jane Quillen, Paul Quillen, Tristen Burke, Chloe Burke; brother, Danny Goldman of Covington; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Mr. Goldman will be held Friday, May 26, 2017, 4:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington with interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends may visit with his family at the funeral home, Thursday, May 25, from 5 – 8 PM.
