Robert J. Skinner of Covington passed away Thursday, April 4, 2019, at the age of 84. Mr. Skinner proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of The Baptist Tabernacle where he enjoyed attending worship services. Mr. Skinner retired from Hercules after 25 years of dedicated service. He loved being outside and took special care to maintain the beautiful flowers, plants, and trees in his yard. Mr. Skinner will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his son, Bobby Skinner; parents, B.S. and Genora Skinner; and brothers, Terry Skinner, Bill Skinner.
Survivors include his adoring wife of 57 years, Diane (Hamby) Skinner; daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Mark Hitchcock, Cindy Skinner, Lisa S. and Jack Phillips; grandchildren, Chris and Lindsey Conner, Matt Hitchcock, Tiffany and Jake Godfrey, Robby Skinner, Katie McPherson, Daniel Skinner, Michelle and Tony Floyd, Brittney and Chris Brewer, Jeremy and Taylor Phillips; great-grandchildren, Eliza, Cameron, Aubrey, Gabriel, Christian, Bella, Caitlin, John, Paris, Isiah, Alyssa, Maesyn; sisters, Minnie Bruce, Martha Jones, Dianne Benke, Kathy Owens; brother, Roger Skinner.
A Funeral Service for Mr. Skinner will be held Sunday, April 7, 2019, 3:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Dr. David C. Moody and Rev. Terry B. Joyner officiating. Interment will follow in Lawnwood Memorial Park in Covington. Friends may visit with Mr. Skinner's family at the funeral home, two hours priors to the service, from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M.
