Gloria Hinton (Thompson) Obituary

Gloria Hinton (Thompson), of Covington, passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at the age of 87. Gloria had a strong work ethic, retiring from Sweetheart Plastics and Exchange Bank. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and working in her yard, as well as watching the Braves and Georgia Bulldogs. Gloria was a great cook, especially when making breakfast. She was a simple lady, worrying more about people than flashy things. She had a strong belief that things should be done a certain way, an ideology she got from her mother. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly. Gloria was preceded in death by her first husband, John D. Hinton; second husband, James L. Thompson; parents, Virgil and Johnnie Piper; and sisters, Mariana, and Sandra.

 

Gloria is survived by her daughter, Joan Wadsworth (Larry); sons, John D. Hinton, Jr. (Chris), Joseph A. Hinton (Teresa); grandchildren, John Wadsworth (Melissa), Larry Wadsworth (Rachel), Holli Meredith (Brian), Jason Hinton, Tyler Hinton, Hayley Hinton, Hannah Hinton, Mattie Hinton; great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, July 24, 2021, 11:00 A.M., at Lawnwood Memorial Park, 1111 Access Road, in Covington, with grandson John Wadsworth officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to McDonough Presbyterian Church, 427 McGarity Road, McDonough, Georgia 30252.

 

 

Governor Brian Kemp's latest executive order has eliminated restrictions on large gatherings; however, CDC guidelines recommend social distancing (6 feet apart) and wearing of masks while in public.  Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home requests that you observe these recommendations while in our funeral home attending visitations and/or services.
