Stephen B. Owens, of Conyers, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2022, at the age of 67. Mr. Owens proudly served his country in the United States Navy on the USS Independence CV-62. He was a member of Eastridge Community Church where he loved serving as an usher and greeter. Mr. Owens enjoyed the outdoors whether he was camping, fishing, or being by the water at the beach. He adored spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. Mr. Owens was the life of the party, fun-loving, always laughing, and a diehard Georgia Bulldog fan. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Owens.
Survivors include his wife, Therese Smith Owens; daughter, April Owens Durmire (Joseph); son, Eric Owens (Patsy); niece, Danielle Cullen (Cody); granddaughters, Addison Durmire, Emma Johnson, Eliza Johnson, Julie Cullen; mother, Doris Crumley Owens; brother, Jeff Owens (Tammy) church daughter, Darci Gilreath and her son, Christopher; as well as several nephews, aunts, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Abbey Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 68, Social Circle, GA 30025.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Owens will be held Saturday, July 23, 2022, 2:00 P.M., at Eastridge Community Church, 14200 GA-36, in Covington. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the church, one hour prior to his service, from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M.
