Robert C. Bell of Covington, passed away August 18, 2013, at the age of 96. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army proudly serving his country during World War II, and faithful member of Canaan Baptist Church. He was a man who loved God, as demonstrated as a deacon and his love and faithfulness to go on church visitation. Mr. Bell was a loving and devoted husband, dad, Papa, brother and friend to so many. He was known by many as their barber which he practiced for more than 60 years. Mr. Bell worked 20+ years at the Ole Town Conyers Barber Shop before retiring at age 89. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed spending time in his garden. Mr. Bell was preceded in death by his dear wife of 56 years, Clara Bell; parents, Truman and Mae Bell; and his brother, Russell Bell.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Roberta and Jeff Psyk of Macon, Elaine and Kirt Digby, Betty and Brian McIntyre, all of Covington; grandchildren, Amy Psyk, Hannah Psyk, Daniel and Anna Digby, Jason Digby, Josh McIntyre, Ben McIntyre; sister, Sarah Gaddis; brother, Gene Bell; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Bell will be held Wednesday, August 21, 2013, 3:00 PM, at Canaan Baptist Church, 5581 Salem Road, in Covington, with Dr. Scott Caudill and Rev. Thomas Satterfield officiating and interment following in New Covington Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington, Tuesday, August 20, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.
