Samuel Franklin Duke, of Covington, passed away May 19, 2015, at the age of 78. Mr. Duke loved watching birds, building birdhouses, traveling and fishing. A member of Voice of Pentecost, he cherished his family and enjoyed being able to provide and care for them. Mr. Duke was preceded in death by his son, Donald Keith Johnson; parents, Charles Wesley and Mary Vera Duke; three brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Ollie Duke of Covington; daughter, Darlene D. Duke of Porterdale; sons, William (Bill) Johnson of Mansfield, Kenneth Johnson of Covington; grandchildren, Ronald Kenneth Johnson, Jr., William Travis Johnson, Ashley Faith Bouchillon, Christina Denise Layfield, Tyler Keith Johnson, Jennifer Hill, Darla Denise Danielle Jarrell, Cayce Janette Jarrell, Sonshyne Nicole Jarrell, Sandra Franks, Ken Franks, Faye Franks; great-grandchildren, Hudson Bouchillon, Rayleigh Bouchillon, Ken Johnson, Ben Johnson, Dallas Edwards, Jr., Deshawn Edwards, Daylen Jarrell, David Edwards; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Duke will be held Saturday, May 23, 2015, 2:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, Covington, GA, with Rev. Gavin Moon officiating. Interment will follow in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, Friday, May 22, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.
