CPO Charles E. Otti

CPO Charles E. Otti of Greensboro, passed away April 1, 2016, at the age of 74.  Mr. Otti proudly served his country for 20 years in the U.S. Navy before retiring.  In addition, he retired from General Mills after 8 years of service.  He enjoyed gardening and loved fishing with his friend, Earl, on the pontoon boat. Mr. Otti loved playing darts with his life-long friend, Jimmy Drakos, and the dart team.  He was a member of Del Webb's Veterans Club and a life-long member of the American Legion.  Mr. Otti was an avid card player of Euche, Canasta, and Pinochle.  He had breakfast every Monday at Huddle House with ROMEO (Retired Old Men Eating Out).  Mr. Otti loved reading war novels.  He cherished the time he spent with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Mr. Otti was preceded in death by his first wife, Nell Otti; and his parents Charles Leo and Dorothy (Kerr) Otti.

 

Survivors include his wife, Bette J. Otti of Greensboro; daughters and sons-in-law, Julia and Troy Janda, Marsha and Mike Skiles all of Jacksonville, FL; step-daughters, Debi Presley and husband, Tony, of Lawrenceville, Deanna Rich and her husband, Ray, of British Columbia, Anita Barlow of Pocahontas, AR; Donna Jean Robinson and her husband, James, of Panama City, FL, Vicki Nelms of Henderson, NV; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Williams and her husband, Griz, of Canyon Lake, TX; brothers, James Ross Otti of San Antonio, TX, George Michael Otti of Canyon Lake, TX; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

A Funeral Service for Mr. Otti will be held Saturday, April 9, 2016, 11:00 AM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington. Entombment will follow with full military honors in Memory Chapel Mausoleum at Lawnwood Memorial Park with members of the Duluth American Legion serving as honorary pallbearers.  Friends may join the family for visitation Friday, April 8, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.  Flowers are accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Georgia War Veterans Home, 2249 Vinson Highway, Milledgeville, GA  31061.
