Sara Stokes

Sara Humphries Stokes of Covington passed away April 8, 2016, at the age of 94. Mrs. Stokes primary focus in life was the Lord, her church, her family and friends. A lifelong Methodist, she was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, and she taught the Otis Nixon Sunday School Class. She was employed by Fulton High School for many years as a secretary and later as a receptionist at King's Bridge Retirement Home in Atlanta. In previous years, she enjoyed teaching the middle school students at Glen Haven United Methodist Church in Decatur. Mrs. Stokes was preceded in death by her parents, James Chester and Nettie Rich Crumbley Humphries.

 

Survivors include her husband of 72 years, Robert (Bob) Stokes; daughter and son-in-law, Sheri and Paul Parker of Covington, as well as several cousins, a host of nieces and nephews and many friends.

 

A Graveside Service for Mrs. Stokes will be held Monday, April 11, 2016, 1:00 PM, at The Westview Cemetery, 1680 Westview Drive SW, Atlanta, GA 30310, with Rev. Joe Peabody, Jr., and Carol Standard officiating. Friends are welcome to join the family for visitation Sunday, April 10, 2016, from 3:00 – 6:00 PM, at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road in Covington. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Riverside Healthcare, 5100 West Street NW, Covington, GA 30014.
