Mary Ella Bruce

Mary Ella Bruce of Covington passed away October 24, 2016, at 79 years of age.   A 1954 graduate of Newton County High School, Mrs. Bruce served as Branch Manager for Bank of America for more than 30 years, and was a lifetime member of Calvary Baptist Church.  She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, gardening, coloring in adult coloring books, and was known for the delicious food she prepared.  Mrs. Bruce cherished the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.  Preceding her in death were her parents, Dennis Alexander and Flora Mae (Sammons) Smith.

 

Survivors include her loving husband of 60 years, George Bruce of Covington; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Lynn and Edward Bailey of Villa Rica, Tracy and Eddie Millington of Covington; son and daughter-in-law, Buddy and Linda Bruce also of Covington; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Karlean Hester of Powder Springs, Jean Brizzi of Covington; brother and sister-in-law, David Mike and Sue Smith of Covington; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Bruce will be held Saturday, October 29, 2016, 3:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington, with Pastor Ron Swann officiating.  Interment will follow in Lawnwood Memorial Park.  Friends may join the family for visitation two hours prior to the service, from 1:00 – 3:00 PM.
