Van Lec "Lecky" Hughes of Decatur, passed away November 14, 2016, at the age of 82. Ms. Hughes earned her Bachelors from Meredeth College, North Carolina. She was a member of Avondale Patillo United Methodist Church, and was a past member of Glen Haven United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Abbott Milton and Ellieen (Tyler) McWhorter; sister, Nancy McWhorter Fisher.
Survivors include her sons, Rudolph Alton Hughes of Loganville, Cliff Abbott Hughes of Decatur, Davis Allen Hughes of Duluth; grandchildren, Joshua Abbott Hughes, Amanda and William Ladner; great-grandchildren, Parker Hughes, Hailey Ladner, William Ladner, Jr.; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service for Ms. Hughes will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2016, 2 PM, at Avondale Pattillo United Methodist Church, 3260 Covington Highway, Decatur, GA 30032, with Rev. John Donaldson officiating. A Graveside Service will be held, Wednesday, November 23, 2016, 11:00 AM, at Bethel City Cemetery, Bethel, NC, with Rev. Dennis Peay officiating.
