Mary "Evelyn" Bell of Covington, passed away November 30, 2016, at the age of 79. When Mrs. Bell wasn't playing Phase 10, she enjoyed going to bingo with her husband, Robert, at the American Legion Post 233, in Loganville. Being famous for her sweet tea, a song was written in her honor, "Mrs. Bell's Sweet Tea". She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Fairy (Lokey) Cartledge; sons, Charles Cartledge, James Bell; sisters, Barbara Cook, Polly Rush; brother, Joe Cartledge.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Robert Bell; daughter and son-in-law, Robyn and Stacey White of Covington; sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Cindy Cartledge of Dalton, GA, Rick and Nora Cartledge of Cleveland, TN, Robby and Christy Bell of Covington; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Betty Cartledge of Covington, James Cartledge, Franklin and Norma Cartledge all of Chester, SC, Roy and Margaret Cartledge, Jackie and Frances Cartledge, all of Covington; numerous nieces and nephews; lifelong friend, Judy Pope.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Bell will be held Sunday, December 4, 2016, 2 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 3134 Floyd Street, in Covington, with Pastor Stan Patterson officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Brandon Cartledge, Cameron Cartledge, Nick White, Scott Rush, Hunter White, Ranon Lane, Carlos Armendariz, Ryan Bell and Rylan Lane will serve as pallbearers. Friends may visit with her family at the funeral home Friday, December 2 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM, and Saturday, December 3 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM.
