Judy Barfield Merritt of Covington, passed away November 30, 2016, at the age of 69. Mrs. Merritt was a 1966 graduate of Gordon High School in Decatur. She worked for many years in the catering and concessions business, and was a loving grandmother to not only her grandchildren, but her great-grandchildren as well. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil Ruben and Mary Louise (Alexander) Barfield; brother-in-law, Otis Dallas.
Survivors include her husband, Randall Merritt; daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Antwain Williams of Porterdale; sons and daughter-in-law, Jay and Jessica Minnoia, Josh Minnoia, all of Covington; grandchildren, Brooke and John Holder, Morgan Minnoia, Jay-Jay Minnoia, Jesse Minnoia, Ansleigh Minnoia, Teirah Williams, Halleigh Deamico; great-grandchildren, Jake Blankenship, Hannah Holder, McKenzie Holder, Olivia Harvey, Kendalyn Harvey; sister, Sheila Dallas; nephews, Dude Dallas, Bill Dallas; numerous nieces and nephews; faithful dog, Tyler.
A Memorial Service for Mrs. Merritt will be held, Saturday, December 3, 2016, 1:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington, with Dr. Adam Cooper officiating. Inurnment to follow in Fairview Memorial Gardens in Stockbridge. Friends may visit with her family, one hour prior to her service, from 12:00 – 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mrs. Merritt's memory to Diva's Pit Bull Rescue, Snellville, GA.
