Janie "Ruth" Hooper of Oxford, passed away December 11, 2016, at the age of 70. Mrs. Hooper was a founding member of Oxford Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Mrs. Hooper enjoyed flower gardening, canning and sewing. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas J. and Fannie Jane (Brock) Fields.
Survivors include her husband of 53½ years, Billy Ray Hooper; sons and daughters-in-law, William Tod Hooper of Oxford, Timothy and Theresa Hooper of Laverne, MS; grandchildren, Camron Hooper, Joshua Hooper; sisters and brother-in-law, Frances and Larry Marlow of Conyers, Betty Poteet of Oxford; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Hooper will be held Tuesday, December 13, 2016, 11:00 AM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Reese Sanders officiating and internment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends may visit with her family at the funeral home, Monday, December 12, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.
