Julia (Judy) Lott of Covington, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017, at 90 years of age. Mrs. Lott attended Union Chapel, a one-room schoolhouse in Eatonton, Georgia. As a young girl, she and her family moved to Covington, where they oversaw the daily operations of a local dairy farm. Before retiring from Bibb Manufacturing, Mrs. Lott was employed at Consolidated Five and Dime, Oxford Manufacturing Company, and Covington Mills. Her passion to serve was evident throughout her life. In addition to serving as a troop leader for both the Brownies and Girl Scouts, Mrs. Lott was a youth leader, Sunday School teacher, and steward during her membership at Trinity United Methodist Church. Most recently a member of Julia A. Porter United Methodist Church, she will always be remembered for her loving and generous nature. Mrs. Lott was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Otis Thomas Lott; son-in-law, Phillip Peppers; parents, James Walker and Lillie Mae (Strange) Presley; sister, Emma Jean Petty.
Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Vickie Peppers of Social Circle, Brenda and William (Bill) Rosser of Covington; grandchildren, Pam Greer, Phil Peppers, Randy Rosser; great-grandchildren, Bryson Rosser, Bailey Rosser, Seth Rosser, Christopher Greer, Victoria Greer, Trey Peppers, Zack Peppers; brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Hilda Presley of Conyers, Olin and Judy Presley of Fairburn; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service for Mrs. Lott will be held Saturday, July 1, 2017, 2 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Ron Compton and Ms. Shirley Strange Smith officiating. Friends may visit with her family at the funeral home, one hour prior to her service, from 1:00 – 2:00 PM. Flowers are accepted, or donations may be made in Mrs. Lott's memory to the Masonic Home of Georgia (Children's Home), Grande Lodge Secretary, P.O. Box 4665, Macon, GA 30068-2054.
