obit for Joanne Castleberry

 

Joanne Castleberry of Covington, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2017, at the age of 89. Mrs. Castleberry was a member of Covington First United Methodist Church, but was of the Baptist faith. For 50 years, she was an active member of Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Castleberry shared her love of music by playing the piano for others. In addition to Covington Manor and the Little Red Schoolhouse, she also played piano for her Sunday School class for over 40 years. A doting mother and grandmother, Mrs. Castleberry delighted in spending time with her loved ones. She was an amazing cook and enjoyed working in her flower garden. Mrs. Castleberry was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Edward Castleberry; and parents, Lester and Maggie (Perry) Malcom.

 

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Lester and Connie Castleberry, Tommy and Linda Castleberry, Charles and Shelia Castleberry, all of Covington; grandchildren, Craig and Emily Castleberry of Covington; Leslie-Ann and Evan Posey of Madison, Amber and Stephen  Cole of Marietta, Bradly Johnson, Travis Johnson, both of Covington; great-grandchildren, Perry-Lane Posey, Monroe Posey, Shiloh Posey, Blaise Posey, Castleberry Posey, Briar-Lark Posey, Ollie Castleberry, Jaycee Lynn Cole, Grier Cole, Warren Cole, David Johnson, Alexa Johnson, Aidan Johnson, Collin Johnson, Feah Johnson, Aiden Johnson; and twin-sister, Claire Read of Social Circle.

 

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Castleberry will be held Wednesday, September 13, 2017, 2:00 PM, at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Dr. Douglas Gilreath and Rev. Jan McCoy officiating. Interment will follow in Covington City Cemetery, Covington. Friends may visit with her family at the funeral home, two hours prior to the service, from 12:00 Noon - 2:00 PM. Flowers are accepted, or donations may be made in Mrs. Castleberry's memory to Covington First United Methodist Church, 1113 Conyers Street, SW, Covington, GA, 30014.
