Nathaniel W. Johnson

Nathaniel "Nate" William Johnson, a.k.a "Dean", passed away on November 14, 2017, at the age of 43.  He was born on November 24, 1973 in St. Catherine, Jamaica and was the sixth of seven children for Loris and William Johnson.  Nathaniel's early childhood was spent in Jamaica, where he attended Marlie Mount Primary School and a part of his teen years attending Old Harbour High School.  Nathaniel loved his family, friends, and pets.  He was always mistaken for a twin with his older brother Neal.  And by his siblings, Dean was considered "mom's pet/prized child".

On November 23, 1988, Nathaniel migrated to the United States where he continued his academic studies at Lake Weir High in Ocala, Florida.  After high school, Nathaniel enlisted in the Air Force.  He was stationed at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois, and served in Support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm.  After his discharge, he went to college at ITT, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.  Nathaniel worked for several companies such as Second Harvest Food Bank, Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), RJ Haynie, and Brooks Berry Haynie & Associates.

Nathaniel was the highlight of the party/event.  His jovial behavior caused everyone he met to love him.  He lived his life spontaneously.  Some of his quotes were "Live, Laugh, Love", live life to its fullness",  and "if you say you're going to do something, then do it".  He would often say "I love my life and I have no regrets".   Nathaniel loved his nieces and nephews; and though he was stern with his nephews, his nieces were considered his babies.  He called his mother "Baby Girl"! His love for life lead him to skydiving, fishing, hunting, shooting (range), ATV riding, zip lining, and caring for his animals and plants.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Johnson; and brother, Garrett Johnson.  Nate is survived by his mother, Loris Johnson; son, Nathaniel L.B. Johnson, sisters, Michelle Daley and Suzzette Belgrave; brothers, Richard Johnson, Lennox Johnson, Herbert Johnson, and Opton Johnson; in-laws, Blandine Johnson, Keith Daley, Mark Belgrave; nieces, Ayanna, Shawna Kay, Danielle, Emerald, Jewel, Arielle, Erin, Alyne; nephews, Tyreese, Richard, William; as well as aunts, uncles, and a host of cousins.

A Funeral Service for Nathaniel will be held Sunday, December 3, 2017, 11:00 AM, Conyers Seventh-day Adventist Church, 3001 Old Salem Rd SE, in Conyers, with Pastor Shawn Shives officiating.  A private interment will take place Monday in Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Dr., Canton, GA.  Friends may visit with his family Saturday, December 2, from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM, at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington.
