Candler George of Conyers, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at the age of 89. Whether working in his garden, caring for his Koi ponds, or spending time at his house on Jackson Lake, Mr. George truly enjoyed being outdoors. A founding member of the Soccer Youth League of Georgia, he combined his love of sports and family by attending sports activities with his children and grandchildren. Mr. George was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Vera George; and parents, Julius Candler, Sr., and Buena Loy George.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Warren and Robyne George of Monticello, Frank and Lynn George of Covington; grandchildren, Amanda George, Jeff George, Kim Schmitt-Holman, Kristen Peterson; great-grandson, Jacob Schmitt; brothers and sisters-in-law, Travis George of Hartwell, Ben and Marion George of Stone Mountain, Ed and Wanda George, Ray and Arlene Musgrove, Dorothy Musgrove, all of Conyers; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service for Mr. George will be held Friday, November 24, 2017, 2:00 PM, Prospect United Methodist Church Cemetery, 6752 Highway 212, in Covington, with Pastor Kim Schmitt-Holman officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family at Prospect United Methodist Church, Covington, one hour prior to his service, from 1:00 – 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be to Prospect United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.
