Helen C. Ricks of Covington, passed away March 6, 2013, at the age of 87. She was born in Griffin, to the late Percy and Rosie (Berry) Christian, was a lifelong resident of the Oak Hill Community, and faithful member of Covington Church of God. Mrs. Ricks enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking, and baking. She was friendly to everyone and never met a stranger. Mrs. Ricks was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, J.W. Ricks; one brother and two sisters; and daughter-in-law, Lula Ricks.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Donald Day of Covington; sons and daughter-in-law, Howard and Sarah Ricks of Panama City Beach, FL, Wayne Ricks of Covington; grandchildren, Tonya and Marlon Golden of Oxford, Sabrina and Richard Greenhaw of Smith Station, AL, Michael and Cheré Day, Jeff and Robin Day, Beth and Shane Carter, Amy and David Jones, all of Covington, Tammy and Jerry Hazlett of Lynn Haven, FL, Kimberly Cummings of Albany, Wayne Bailey of Panama City Beach, FL; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Russell and Dot Ricks of Covington; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Ricks will be held Friday, March 8, 2013, 2:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Larry Bennett and Rev. Gene Byrd officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, March 7, from 6:00-8:00 PM. Flowers are accepted, or donations may be made to Covington Church of God, 5158 Newton Dr., Covington, GA 30014.
