Obit - Hazel Harris Parish

Hazel Harris Parish, 88, of Covington, joined her Heavenly Father, May 1, 2013, peacefully at Abbey Hospice while surrounded by her family. Miss Hazel was a lifelong resident of Covington and member of the First Baptist Church. She worked briefly, but when her children came along, the decision was made to be a fulltime wife and mother. You could often find Miss Hazel sitting on Floyd Street greeting everyone that came by! Miss Hazel was loved, and will be missed by her family and friends. Her favorite saying was, "I have had a wonderful life, and God is so good!" She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Otis A. Parish, Jr.; her parents, Ras and Fannie (Filyaw) Harris; and her sisters, Helen Patrick and Jackie Durden.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine and David Ellis, Patti and Larry King, all of Covington; grandchildren, Tiffany and Bobby Ray, Nick and Ashley Ellis, John and Katy King, Ryan and Heather King; great-grandchildren, Jaxon Ray, Camden Ray, MaKayla King, Austin King; brothers and sister-in-law, Neal Harris of Covington, James and Margaret Harris of Monroe; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Miss Hazel will be held Sunday, May 5, 2013, 3:00 PM, at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Len Strozier, Rev. Charles Reynolds, and Rev. J.J. Wilson officiating, and interment following in Covington City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, Saturday, May 4, from 6:00-9:00 PM. Flowers are accepted, or donations may be made to her church, First Baptist Church, 1139 Usher Street, Covington, GA 30014; or Abbey Hospice, P.O. Box 68, Social Circle, GA 30025.
