Frank Julian Davis of Oxford, passed away October 6, 2013, at the age of 80. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Covington, the Oxford Lions Club, was presently serving as a City Councilman in Oxford, and was Treasurer of the Oxford Historical Society for many years. He was active in community service projects, and was involved in building the first bridge on Oxford Trail. Mr. Davis enjoyed fishing and traveling, but more than anything he cherished the opportunity to serve others. He helped others fulfill their dreams, and if there was anything he could do to help someone – he would do it! Mr. Davis loved his family dearly, and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his loving wife who he was devoted to for 60 years, Sarah Taylor Davis; daughters and sons-in-law, Anne and Mac Cranford of Covington, Janet and Frank Neese of Woodstock, Linda and Tony Compton of Covington; sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Debbie Davis of Forsyth, Charlie and Gina Davis of Jackson; 23 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Betty and Buddye Greene of Greenville, SC, Evelyn Davis of Woodstock; brothers and sisters-in-law, Earl and Elaine Davis of Cataula, GA, Curt and Ronda Davis of Sarasota, FL; brother-in-law, Belman Maddox and his wife, Lamar; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Davis will be held Wednesday, October 9, 2013, 11:00 AM, at the First Presbyterian Church, in Covington, with Rev. Dr. William B. Wade, Jr., officiating, and interment following in Oxford Historical Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, Tuesday, October 8, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. Flowers are accepted, or donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 1169 Clark Street SW, Covington, GA 30014.
