Linnette Louise Thorpe, age 87, of Covington, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2014. She was a member of the Riverside Nursing Home Redhatters and Good Hope Baptist Church in Covington. Mrs. Thorpe was a Licensed Evangelist and achieved being the first kindergarten teacher in Charlestown-St. Mary, Jamaica. She was an Allied Health Careers Graduate and completed the Home Attendant Training Program, which qualified her to be a Certified Nursing Assistant. She had a strong work ethic, having worked 23 years both as a CNA and for Kenny National. Mrs. Thorpe was preceded in death by her husband, Eustice Jerieson Thorpe; son, Marciano Thorpe; parents, Wilford and Ada (Williams) Robinson; sisters, Inez McFarland, Fredricka Weatherly, Icilda Robinson; and brother, Ivan Robinson.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Jean Thorpe of Decatur; son, Winston Alexander (Philroedna) Thorpe of Covington; grandchildren, Christine Thorpe, Franklin Thorpe, Pamela Thorpe, Omar Fritz, Dowayne Fritz, Noah Thorpe, Jason Thorpe; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; brothers, Sylvester Robinson, Wilford Robinson, Bertie Robinson; as well as a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Thorpe will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 18, at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 3134 Floyd Street, in Covington. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, January 17, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.
