Joyce Smith Ochoa of Social Circle, passed away August 3, 2014, at the age of 73. Ms. Ochoa was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, who loved her family dearly and cherished her time with them. She was a strong, amazing woman with a forgiving heart, a kind and generous spirit, and she always made sure to find the good in people. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Smith; parents, Troy and Dorothy Belle Fillingim; sister, Bobbie Fillingim; brother, Ronnie Fillingim.
Survivors include her children, Steve Waller, Belinda and Brett Light, Tim and Patti Waller, Bill and Becky Waller, Kristie and Barry James, Al and Trisha Smith, Ricky and Connie Smith, Pam and Jeff Thompson; 18 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Wilson, Doris Waldrop, Peggy Myers, Betty Williams, Patty Nash; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Peggy Fillingim; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Ms. Ochoa will be held Wednesday, August 6, 2014, 11:00 AM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor William Herndon officiating and interment following in Redan Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, August 5, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.
