Doris Head of Covington, formerly of Porterdale, passed away September 2, 2015, at the age of 85. Mrs. Head was a long-time member of Porterdale Baptist Church, where she devoted much of her time to various church activities. She enjoyed flower gardening, cooking and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Head; and her parents, Harvey and Ruth Stapp.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Mike Brown; step-daughter and her husband, Debra and Bobby Hamby; grandchildren, Sharon Gilbert, Lisa Ferrell, Shane Brown, Chad Brown, Ashley Hamby; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Patsy Parker, Shirley Skinner; brother, James Stapp; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Mrs. Head will be held Friday, September 4, 2015, 11:30 AM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Dickie Johnson officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, prior to her service, from 10:00 – 11:15 AM. Flowers are accepted, or donations may be made to Porterdale Baptist Church, P.O. Box 637, Porterdale, GA 30070.
