Claude Spiva

Claude "Bud" M. Spiva of Covington passed away May 7, 2016, at the age of 74. Mr. Spiva proudly served in the US Army. His overseas tours of duty included Germany and Vietnam, where he was awarded the Purple Heart, serving with the Ninth Calvary, 81st Infantry Division. A member of Harvest Baptist Church, he served on the counting team and the food fellowship team. Mr. Spiva enjoyed all freshwater fishing, but especially trout fishing and camping in the mountains. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Preceding him in death were his parents, Lawrence and Sarah Spiva.

 

Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Peggy B. Spiva; daughters and son-in-law, Denise and Rudy Beam; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Allison Spiva all of Covington; grandchildren, Samantha Beam, Rodney Beam, Hayden Spiva; sister and brother-in-law, Susie and Joe Hale of Jackson; as well as numerous nieces and nephew.

 

Funeral Services for Mr. Spiva will be held Wednesday, May 11, 2016, 2:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road in Covington, with Rev. Richard Culpepper officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends may join the family for visitation at the funeral home Tuesday, May 10, 2016, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM.
