Floyd O. Roberts, Sr., of Covington passed away May 24, 2016, at the age of 75. Mr. Roberts was a member of The Baptist Tabernacle for over 55 years. He graduated from Newton County High School in 1960, and he proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves. Mr. Roberts was a crane operator for 23 years, where he retired from Superior Rigging and Erecting Company. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to the mountains. In addition, he and his wife, Paula were foster parents for 8 years. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle, he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Preceding him in death was his son, Anthony Roberts; parents, Jesse and Lucy Roberts; sister, Inez Johnson; brothers, Junior Roberts and Grady Roberts.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Paula Roberts; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Jason Johnson of Covington; sons and daughters-in-law, Floyd, Jr., and Leigh Ann Roberts of Jersey, Marty and Sue Roberts, Torrie and Charmion Roberts, Jonathan and Amy Roberts all of Covington; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Janie Roberts of Covington; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Mr. Roberts will be held Friday, May 27, 2016, 2:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road in Covington, with Pastor Jason Johnson officiating. Friends are welcome to join the family for visitation at the funeral home Thursday, May 26, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Flowers are accepted, or contributions may be made in his memory to National Multiple Sclerosis Society Georgia Chapter, 1117 Perimeter Center West, Suite E-101, Atlanta, GA 30338.
