Joe Riley of Snellville passed away September 24, 2016, at 68 years of age. He began his career in economic development in Hopkinsville, KY and operated the California office of economic development for the state of Kentucky. He then continued his career as an economic developer for Georgia EMC for 34 years. He received the Rip Wiley Award, the most prestigious award presented by the Georgia EMC. Mr. Riley pursued very diligently his personal goals for both his family and his work. He was a member of Goshen Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg, KY, but attended Cannon United Methodist Church in Snellville with his wife, Peg. Mr. Riley was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Earl and Loretta (Disponett) Riley; and brother, Delaine Riley.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Peg Daigle-Riley of Snellville; daughter, Natalie Riley-Ingram and husband, John of Alpharetta; son, Patrick Riley of Boca Raton, FL; grandchildren, Aidan Ingram, Ansley Ingram; sisters, Shirley Ann Durr, Betty Sue Houp, and brother, E.J. Riley, all of Lawrenceburg, KY; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life for Mr. Riley will be held Thursday, September, 29, 2016, 2:00 PM, at Cannon United Methodist Church, 2424 Webb Gin House Rd., Snellville. Friends may visit with the family at the church one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 – 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Riley may be made to Cannon United Methodist Church, 2424 Webb Gin House Rd., Snellville, GA 30078 or Goshen Baptist Church, 1003 Industrial Park Rd., Lawrenceburg, KY 40342.
