Billy G. Cochran of Newborn, passed away September 22, 2016, at the age of 81. Mr. Cochran, a man who loved to work, dedicated 55 years of service to International Union Operator Engineers, Local 926, retiring when he was 67 years old. He served in the National Guard, and was a Mason with Lodge 12, in Mableton. In his free time, Mr. Cochran enjoyed watching football and NASCAR. Deep-sea fishing and camping were two of his favorite pastimes when his kids were younger. Mr. Cochran was preceded in death by his son, Billy Gordon Cochran, Jr.; wife, Bobbie Jean (Ralston) Cochran; parents, Clifford and Edna (Hester) Cochran; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Dick Mundy; and son-in-law, Richard Lane.
Survivors include his daughter, Brenda Lane; sons, Barry Cochran, Brian Cochran; grandchildren, Bruce, Tracy, Andy, Chris, Joey, Brett, Randy; as well as twelve great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Cochran will be held Sunday, September 25, 2016, 3:00 PM, at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 3134 Floyd Street, Covington, with Dr. Adam Cooper officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, two hours prior to his service, from 1:00 – 3:00 PM. Flowers are accepted, or donations may be made in Mr. Cochran's memory, to the American Cancer Society, 105 West Park Drive, Suite C, Athens, GA 30606.
