Andrew Jackson Griffith, Sr., of Eatonton, passed away February 14, 2017, at 79 years of age. Mr. Griffith worked for Newton County Public Works Department for more than 25 years. His favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, and cutting grass. Mr. Griffith was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Leon and Grace (Starnes) Griffith; sister, Sue Ann Griffith.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 50 years, Carol Griffith; daughters and son-in-law, Tracy Harn of Covington, Cynthia and Gary McDuffie of Irwinton; sons, Andrew Griffith, Jr., of Covington, Michael Lee Griffith, also of Covington; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Charlotte Estes, Elaine and Gary Day, Ruby Smith; brother, Jimmy Griffith; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Mr. Griffith will be held Friday, February 17, 2017, 2:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington. Interment will follow in Center Hill Baptist Cemetery in Gratis, GA. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home Thursday, February 16, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.
