Jack Cromer of Covington and Madison went to be with the Lord on December 13, 2017. He died peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was 87 years of age.
One of eight children, Mr. Cromer was born in WV to a coal-mining family. When he was 16, he enlisted in the Marine Crops. Assigned to the 1st Marine Div. in 1950, he was in 9 months of heavy fighting at the Chosin Reservoir in Korea. He earned the Korean Service Medal with four stars.
Mr. Cromer and his first wife adopted two daughters, Lisette and Ginette. They were married 32 years. He worked as an aircraft mechanic and later sold automotive parts. With his second wife of 23 years, Mr. Cromer built a home in Madison.
Mr. Cromer was introduced to his third wife, Elizabeth "Missy" Bragg by a mutual friend. They were happily married for 4 ½ years till his death.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth "Missy" Cromer of Covington; daughters and son-in-law, Lisette and Richard Rushing of Madison; Ginette Mohon of Buckhead; grandchildren, Kayla Blair, Dylan Mohon, Devon Mohon; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Mr. Cromer will be held Monday, December 18, 2017, 2:00 PM, at Belmont Baptist Church, 3275 Iris Dr., SE, in Conyers, with Pastor Nolan Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington, Sunday, December 17, from 3:00 – 5:00 PM.
