obit for Mrs. Jones

 

Lola Ann (Bankston) Jones of Social Circle, passed away December 21, 2017, at 70 years of age. A 1965 graduate of Newton County High, Mrs. Jones started her work career at Sears, in Covington, where she was employed for over 20 years. Additionally, she was a dedicated employee for the City of Oxford and Home Buyers Warranty. Mrs. Jones was a passionate football fan and loved to cheer for the Atlanta Falcons and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. She also liked to crochet, cross-stitch and make crafts. Preceding her in death was her mother, Violet (Loyd) Bankston; and brother, John Bankston.

 

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Stephen Gourley of Porterdale; son, Steven Alexander of Jackson; grandchildren, Lauryn Smith, Taylor Alexander, Landon Alexander, Brandon Bonkowski, Chance Gourley, Noah Gourley; great-grandchildren, Lola Mendez, Olivia Alexander, Ivannia Alexander; father, Curtis Odell Bankston; sisters and brothers-in-law, Glennis and John Jolley of Covington, Gay and Lee Piper of Alpharetta; brother and sister-in-law, Rodney and Donna Bankston of Oxford; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Jones will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2017, 3:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington, with Rev. Calvin Lamar Gourley officiating. Friends may visit with the family, at the funeral home, two hours prior to her service, from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM. A private interment will be held in Oxford Historical Cemetery.
