Charles "Charlie" Scarbrough of Covington, GA, passed away June 16, 2018, at the age of 82. Mr. Scarbrough was a 1957 graduate of Florida State University. In 1972 Charles and his life partner, Edna, moved to New Orleans, LA, where they raised their four children. After retiring from the Food and Drug Administration in 1999 with 38 plus years of service, he and his wife moved back to Georgia where they became long-time members of Starrsville United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Edna Snider Scarbrough; parents, Morris H. Scarbrough and Emma Lee Gibbs Scarbrough; sister, Joyce Bradford.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-laws, Cynthia and Dale Colburn, Sandra and Matthew Ives, Pamela and Miguel Barrosse; son and daughter-in-law, David and Kearstin Scarbrough; grandchildren, Jeffrey Colburn, Hannah Colburn, Douglas Colburn, JoBeth Campbell, Mia Campbell, Elijah Charles Scarbrough; sister, Betty Pickens; many nieces and nephews, and many more loving family and friends.
A funeral service for Mr. Scarbrough will be held Friday, June 22, 2018, 2:00 PM, at Starrsville United Methodist Church, 2786 Dixie Road, in Covington, GA, with Pastor Tony Gatter officiating, and internment following in Starrsville United Methodist Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, GA, Thursday, June 21, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Flowers are accepted, or contributions may be made, in his memory, to Starrsville United Methodist Church.
