Ann Joyner, of Lithonia, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2019, at the age of 85. Mrs. Joyner was a graduate of Newton County High School, a lifelong member of Julia A. Porter United Methodist Church and was part of the United Methodist Church Women's Organization. She took pride in her job driving the special needs bus for DeKalb County where she won Bus Driver of the Year and bus driver rodeo. Mrs. Joyner enjoyed dancing, listening to rock and roll music, roller skating, water skiing and NASCAR. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed doing anything with her kids and grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert William Prince, Sr., and Mary Catherine (Finley) Prince; brothers, Robert William Prince, Jr., and John Wesley Prince.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Denton Perry; sons, Scott Joyner, David Joyner; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Mrs. Joyner will be held Sunday, September 8, 2019, 3:00 P.M., at Julia A. Porter United Methodist Church, 3 Cotton Street, in Porterdale, with Rev. Roger Cato officiating and interment following in Covington City Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family Saturday, September 7, at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 3134 Floyd Street, in Covington, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Flowers are accepted, or donations may be made to Julia A. Porter Building Fund, P.O. Box 700, Porterdale, GA 30070.
