Jean Buchanan, age 78, of Oxford, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2020. Faith and family were the cornerstones and the foundation upon which her life was built. Mrs. Buchanan was steadfast in her Christian faith and was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Covington. Her commitment to family was evident in all facets of her life as she was known for her deep devotion to her husband, children and grandchildren. Mrs. Buchanan liked to travel – cruises being her go-to for relaxing and seeing new places – and she always looked forward to outings with her daughters, which typically consisted of shopping for clothes and shoes. She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Ruth Tackett; sister, Patty Foster; and brothers, Eddie Tackett, Gary Tackett.
Those who will hold close to their hearts the memory of Mrs. Buchanan are her husband of 59 years, Bill Buchanan; daughters and sons-in-law, Diana B. and Walt Roberts, Angela B. and Rusty Carter; grandchildren, Shauna Jones, Melissa Cowan, Nick Carter; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Ruth Chance, Mary Lou Isom, Sandra Starnes, Janice Ewing, Pam Feldt; brother, Randy Tackett; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Mrs. Buchanan will be held Saturday, February 29, 2020, 2:00 P.M., at Calvary Baptist Church, 4228 Mill Street NE, in Covington, with Pastor Ron Swann and Pastor Ronnie Barnes officiating. Entombment will follow at Memory Chapel Mausoleum in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends are invited to visit with her family at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, Friday, February 27, from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. Flowers are accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church.
