Margaret Benton, daughter of Guy and Florene James, was born October 6, 1947. Margaret went home to her Lord and Savior, Monday, February 24, 2020. After years of battling COPD, she passed away peacefully at her home in Rutledge, Georgia. Family meant everything to Margaret. She was a caregiver who always put the needs of others before her own. Those that knew her best would describe her as gentle, kind, and generous. Margaret will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa DeLong; parents, Luther Guy and Grace Florene (Streetman) James; brother, Benjamin James, and sister, Millie Morris.
Left to remember Margaret with love and admiration is her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Jan Pruitt; grandchildren and their spouses, Hailey and Josh Mellott, Samantha and Cody Faircloth, Leah Pruitt, Allen DeLong; as well as sisters, Eva Barrentine, Debbie Ethridge, Jeanett Morris.
A Memorial Service for Margaret will be held Saturday, February 29, 2020, 1:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Carl Reimold officiating. Friends are invited to visit with her family, two hours prior to the service, from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Morgan County, 1170 Fairground Rd, Madison, GA 30650.
