Clarence E. McSwain, of Conyers, passed away Friday, December 11, 2020, at the age of 88. Mr. McSwain was a faithful servant of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He faithfully taught Sunday School, served in the prison ministry, sang in the choir, drove for the bus ministry, and was a highly active member of The Gideon International. Mr. McSwain's immense love for the Lord was evident by his countless hours studying his Bible and by passing along his faith to his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and anyone he met. He was a proud and dedicated veteran of the United States Navy who served in the Korean Conflict. Mr. McSwain will be remembered for his love for his family but, most of all, for his love of Jesus Christ. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty McSwain; second wife, Jeanette McSwain; parents, James T. McSwain, Sr., and Amanda (Laws) McSwain; sisters, Alma Robinson, Margaret Kerr; and brothers, Albert McSwain, Burl McSwain, James T. McSwain, Jr., Kenneth McSwain, Edward McSwain.
Those who will hold close the memories of Mr. McSwain are his daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Tony Henry, Sherri Hudgins, Kim and Richard Culpepper; step-daughters, Angela Young, Sylvia Smallwood; grandchildren and spouses, Clint and Jessica Culpepper, Luke Hudgins, Joshua and Emily Parrish, Alex and Jennifer Culpepper, Christian Parrish; great-grandchildren, Allie Parrish, Elinor Culpepper, Noah Parrish, Renee Culpepper, Ava Jo Culpepper, Everly Culpepper; sisters, Cynthia Blanton, Doris Earney; brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and Millie McSwain, Moris and Linda McSwain; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service to honor Mr. McSwain will be held Tuesday, December 15, 2020, 1:00 P.M., at Harvest Baptist Church, 2075 Highway 212, in Covington, with Pastor Richard Culpepper, Pastor Clint Culpepper, Pastor Alex Culpepper, and Pastor Alvin Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in Green Meadow Memorial Gardens, 677 American Legion Road, in Conyers. Friends are invited to visit with his family at the church prior to his service, from 11:30 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Harvest Baptist Church, or The Gideon International, Attn: The Gideon International Processing Center, P.O. Box, 97251, Washington, DC 20090-7251.
