James Claude "Bubba" Russell, of Covington, passed away Friday, December 31, 2021, at the age of 81. Mr. Russell never met a stranger and enjoyed talking and telling jokes. He loved food, enjoyed a good buffet, grocery shopping, and was an honorary patron of Tubby Toms. Mr. Russell liked to collect cars, baseball caps, and watches, and in his free time he enjoyed watching football and traveling to the beach – especially Myrtle Beach. But above all, time spent with his family is what Mr. Russell treasured most. He loved taking his grandchildren out, having big family get-togethers, and taking care of his family. Mr. Russell was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Susie Russell; sisters, Jordy Witcher, Sharon Sanders; and brother, Bud Russell.
Survivors include his loving wife of 29 years, Diana Russell; daughter, Lisa Russell (Dan Vowell); son, Jim Cunard "James Russell, Jr." (Amy); step-son, Marshall Haff (Tasha); grandchildren, Kristin Haff (Rece Mercer), Iva Cramer (Daniel Garrett), Jessica Haff (Reid Nash), Drew Loumakis, Ruby Cramer, Walt Loumakis, Taylor Haff; great-grandchildren, Indie Haff, Harper Mercer, Shephard Mercer; sister, Alma Jean Lutton; brothers, Steve Russell, Mike Russell; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Mr. Russell will be held Friday, January 7, 2022, 1:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Mickey Kitchens officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home, prior to his service Friday, from 11:00 A.M. – 12:45 P.M. Governor Brian Kemp's latest executive order has eliminated restrictions on large gatherings; however, CDC guidelines recommend social distancing (6 feet apart) and wearing of masks while in public.
