Obits Caldwell and Cowan

Mr. Delma Weatherford of Covington passed away July 21, 2012, at the age of 61. Mr Weatherford is preceded in death by his  parents, Melzar and Annie (Harwood) Weatherford and sister, Vida L. Johnson.

 

Mr. Weatherford is survived by his brother, Otis Weatherford of Covington; nieces, Debra Pickett of Vicksburg, MI, Wendy McCrackin of Covington, and nephew, Gerald Weatherford of Covington

 

Funeral services for Mr. Weatherford will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, July 23, 2012, the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 3134 Floyd Street, Covington, and interment following at Sewell Methodist Cemetery, Mansfield, Georgia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Saturday, July 22, from 6 - 8 P.M.                           

 
 

Hazel Simons of Oxford, passed away July 22, 2012, at the age of 92. She retired after 35 years of service at Oxford Manufacturing Company. Mrs. Simons enjoyed sewing, gardening, traveling, and cooking. She was a member of Gum Creek Presbyterian Church, where she was involved in many church activities including the Gum Creek Golden Group. Mrs. Simons is preceded in death by her husband, George Day Simons; and parents Golden and Alice (Cochran) Coker.

 

Mrs. Simons is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Bobby Reagan; grandchildren, Steve and Wanda Reagan, Mark and Lynda Reagan, all of Oxford; great grandchildren, Jacob Reagan, Stephanie Reagan, Courtney Reagan and Hannah Reagan; several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Services for Mrs. Simons will be held, Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Rd, Covington, with Rev. Joe Gatlin officiating, and interment following at Social Circle City Cemetery, Social Circle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Monday, July 23, from 6 -8 P.M.                          

 

 

 

Betty West James of Oxford, passed away July 20, 2012, at the age of 88. Mrs. James was a world traveler. Her favorite charity was The Jesus Film Project. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Snellville. She worked as a secretary for the U.S. Government, Department of Defense.  Mrs. James is preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Orvie Nelle (Echols) West.

 

Mrs. James is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Arnold Solomon; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. J. Donald and Dianne James; sisters, Norma Paine and Nancy Ginn; grandchildren, Brian James, Donna Callaway, Jeffrey Solomon and Katherine Solomon; great-grandchildren, Grayson Callaway and Finnegan Callaway; several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services for Mrs. James will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, July 23, 2012, the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Bill Stafford officiating. Burial at Crestlawn Memorial Park, Atlanta, Georgia at 3:00 P.M. Monday, July 23, 2012.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 22, 2012 from 3:30-5:30 P.M. and 7:00-9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
