Jack Griffin, of Monticello, passed away September 30, 2012, at the age of 83. Mr. Griffin retired in 1994 from Kysor-Warren after 40 years of service. He enjoyed traveling, cooking during the holidays, camping, crafting, fishing, gardening, animals, and working with flowers. He was a volunteer with the Salvation Army, nursing homes, and the Covington Chapter of the AARP. He also enjoyed helping with Relay for Life. Mr. Griffin was a deacon at Gleaners Baptist Church in Atlanta. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, father-in-law, brother and friend to many. Mr. Griffin was preceded in death by his wives, Patsy (Strickland) Griffin and Eva Geneva (Kerlin) Griffin; and parents John William Griffin and Mattie Geneva (Head) Griffin.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Danny Lewis of Monticello; sons and daughter-in-law, Jack (Sammy) and Barbara Griffin of Social Circle, Anthony (Andy) Griffin of Monticello, Jason Griffin of Acworth; grandchildren, Jennifer Griffin, Casey and Melinda Lewis, Corey and Allison Lewis, Lauren Griffin, Josh Griffin, Malachi Griffin, Gabby Griffin, Zechariah Griffin; great-grandchildren, Ethan Lewis, Ansleigh Lewis, Brayden Lewis, and Cody Griffin; brother and sisters-in-law, Almon and Thelma Griffin of Monroe, Estelle Griffin of East Point; brother-in-law, Lavern Kerlin of Conyers; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Griffin will be held Tuesday, October 2, 2012, 2:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Andy Parker officiating, and interment following in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery, Jackson Lake Road in Monticello. The family will receive family and friends at the funeral home Tuesday, October 2, 2012, from 12:00 to 2:00 PM.
