Raymond Wood Thompson, Jr., of Covington, passed away September 10, 2012, at the age of 84. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and watching the Atlanta Braves. Mr. Thompson was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Christine (Bradford) Thompson; and his parents, Raymond Wood, Sr., and Josie Pearl (Harper) Thompson.
Survivors include his daughter, Bonnie Kay Gregg of Covington; sons and daughter-in-law, Marshall and Phyllis Thompson of Dekalb County, Bobby Thompson, Terry Thompson, both of Covington; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services for Mr. Thompson will be held Thursday, September 13, 2012, 3:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Ricky Bradford officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, from 1:00-3:00 PM.
