Hoyt O'Neal Bruce, Sr., of Covington, passed away November 4, 2015, at the age of 84. Mr. Bruce was a deacon, licensed minister and very active member of Almon Baptist Church for 56 years. He enjoyed gardening and fishing. Mr. Bruce was a devoted husband and cherished the time he spent with his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Willie and Winfred (Saxon) Bruce; and his ten siblings.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 61 years, Minnie Bruce; daughter and son-in-law, Tonya and Jamie Fuller; sons and daughters-in-law, Hoyt, Jr., and Linda Bruce, Mark and Cathy Bruce, Scott and Carla Bruce, Ricky and Renee Bruce; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Jackie Sheriff, Jan and Leonard Mitchell; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Nancy Bruce; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Bruce will be held Saturday, November 7, 2015, 2:00 PM, at Almon Baptist Church, 122 Almon Road, in Covington, with Pastor Ricky Bruce officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, Friday, November 6, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM.
