Charles Ray Thacker

Charles Ray Thacker of Covington passed away February 24, 2016, at the age of 71. Mr. Thacker owned and operated Thacker Electric Company for 45 years. He was a man of very strong faith and a member of Stewart Community Church. He never missed seeing his son Chuck perform in his high school marching band, or the UGA Red Coat Marching Band. He also enjoyed attending his son, David's football and baseball games. In addition, he attended and supported his granddaughters in their sports activities. He loved to fish and hang out with his fishing buddies. Preceding him in death were his beloved son, Charles Ray (Chuck) Thacker, Jr.; parents, Edgar and Ollie Smith Thacker; brother, Wayne Thacker; sister, Eunice Thacker,

 

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Melanie Coody Thacker; son and daughters-in-law, David and Jennifer Thacker of Covington, Lori Earl Thacker of Bloomington, IL; grandchildren, Aubree Thacker, Corley Thacker, Ian Thacker, Aaron Thacker; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Daniel Lunsford of McDonough, Diane Arnold of Covington, Kathyrn and Gary Chesnut of Snellville; sister-in-law, Karen Thacker of Covington; several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Service for Mr. Thacker will be held Friday, February 26, 2016, 3:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road in Covington, with Pastor Jason Johnson and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends may join the family for visitation prior to the service from 1:00 – 2:45 PM. Flowers are accepted, or contributions in his memory to Stewart Community Church Building Fund, 245 Campbell Road, Covington, GA 30014.
